CONDUCT OF MATCHES (a) Prior to the commencement of each season the Executive shall determine the competition format for that season. (b) Doubles Team Composition - Monday Mixed teams shall consist of 2 Ladies and 2 Men Tuesday OPEN Doubles of 4 players may be any combination of Male or Female. All matches consist of six "six game" sets played in the order listed on the scorecard. A 12 point tie-breaker (Eg: 7-3) shall be played when sets are five (5) games all. (Finals refer Bylaw 16d). (c) Singles Team Composition Open format of 2 players may be any combination of Male or Female. All matches consist of five "six game" sets played in the order listed on the scorecard. A 12 point tie-breaker shall be played when sets are five (5) games all. (Finals refer Bylaw 16d). (d) The order of play in any match may be varied by agreement between the team captains. (e) To qualify for Finals participation a player must have met the requirements of Bylaw 6. (f) (i) The scorecard shall be provided by the home team and given to each team captain who is to fill in the first name and surname of each member of the team prior to the commencement of play. Any alterations to the scorecard must be approved and initialed by both team captains. Extra registrations information is to be sent with the mailform. (ii) Any team member not sufficiently identified on the mailform shall be deemed an unregistered player and the match result shall be determined in accordance with Bylaw 4(h) and fined in accordance with Bylaw 19(e). (iii) Each club captain is responsible for the accuracy of their team's information provided on the scorecard. The club responsible for submitting the mailform [8j & 8k] shall ensure the completeness and accuracy of the date, section and competition. (iv) The club responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the mailform details, as above, shall incur a fine for inaccurate and incomplete details in accordance with Bylaw 19(j). (g) Matches shall be decided on games first. If games are equal the match shall then be decided on sets. (h) At the conclusion of play the final details shall be completed on the scorecard and both captains shall sign the scorecard as a true and accurate record of the match. (i) (i) Mailforms from all matches, whether played or not, must be received by the relevant Record Secretary as per the following table: If the due day is a public holiday, the following working day will be accepted. The sooner the results are in the better! (ii) MAILFORM rules: (a) If you don’t get confirmation within 24 hours of ‘Mailform Received’ from the Record Secretary, then you are required to follow up with appropriate Record Secretary. (b) Scorecards must be either retained until the end of the season or passed on to your Club’s Delegate so they can hand them in at the next Delegates Meeting. Captains to check with your Club Delegate. Scorecards are required for possible insurance purposes and spot checking of scores & all players registered. (j) If a mail form is not received as above the home team may be penalised two (2) points per late Mail Form and fined in accordance with By law 19(a). If the mail form has not been received by the relevant Record Secretary prior to the commencement of the following round, the home team (which is responsible for forwarding the mail form) may be deemed to have forfeited the match with points awarded to the away team to reflect a forfeit. (k) For the LAST home and away match the HOME team, and for ALL FINALS matches the captain of the WINNING team shall, in accordance with the Bylaws and no later than 7.00pm on the following day of the match, inform the Record Secretary of the match result by mailform only. Failure to comply will incur a fine in accordance with Bylaw 19(a). (l) For each match being played in doubles competitions a minimum of four new balls shall be provided by the home team. (m) For singles competition being played on two courts, four new balls shall be provided by the home team. (n) All balls used must be those balls as approved by Tennis Australia and/or the controlling body of Tennis in the State of Victoria. Note: As a courtesy to all players, all mobile phones are to be turned off.
